Most homes accumulate technology one purchase at a time: a smart thermostat, a video doorbell, a speaker, a camera. Each arrives with its own app and its own login, and none of them speak to each other.
Integration means one interface and, more importantly, scenes that span systems. “Good Night” locks the doors, closes the shades, drops the lights, arms the cameras, and sets back the thermostat — one command instead of five apps.

What if something breaks?
Systems are designed to fail gracefully: lights still work from the switch, doors still work from the key.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If the system requires you to be, it was designed badly.
